Every November, colorful bags of Starbucks holiday coffee arrives in stores, whether as a gift or as a treat to yourself. Introduced in 1984, the Christmas Blend is a holiday tradition, a comforting and delicious symbol of the most wonderful time of the year.

This year, the Christmas Blend features a dark roast of aged Sumatra beans, together with beans from Guatemala, Colombia and Papua New Guinea. With notes of herbs, baking spices and a velvety rich chocolate finish, the blend is reminiscent of the sweetness and spice of the original 1984 blend.

Fun fact: When Starbucks first launched the Christmas Blend, it was sold in plain brown paper bags to be brewed at home!

Through the years, new varieties have also been developed, like the Christmas Blend Espresso and Blonde Roast, and the Christmas Blend in ORIGAMI and VIA as well. Have a taste of Christmas in any way you want in the following formats:

How to brew

Brew your Christmas blend in five different steps using the French Press, which helps to retain the natural oils otherwise absorbed by paper filters, giving you a cup of full-flavored coffee with a thick and rich consistency.

You will need: a French Press, a jug and boiled water.

Step 1:

Grind 27g of coffee beans to get coarse ground coffee that resembles sea salt for your 4-cup French Press.. If you're using a 8-cup French Press, grind 54g of coffee beans.

Step 2:

Pour the coffee grounds into the French Press.

Step 3:

Fill the French Press with freshly boiled water, and make sure to saturate all the coffee gronuds. To give your coffee the best possible flavor, use filtered or bottle water.

Step 4:

Place the plunger on the French Press without pushing it down, and let the coffee brew for 4 minutes.

Step 5:

Gently push down on the plunger until it reaches the bottom of the French Press, then pour yourself a mug of coffee and enjoy!
